This class is good for 4 credit hours of Continuing Education with advanced signup.

This class is part of the Humane Educators of Texas curriculum.

This class will cover proper identification of indigenous snakes, lizards, turtles, and alligators, as well as cover safe capture and handling techniques. A hands-on block of instruction with live animals, including venomous snakes, is included. 


Tim Cole is an Advanced Level Animal Control Officer who has held a Texas Parks and Wildlife rehabilitation permit for reptiles. Tim is also a founding member of the Austin Herpetological Society as well as being on the board of various Herpetological Societies.

Since 2004, Tim has been conducting this four-hour Herpetological Workshop that is CE Certified by the Texas Animal Control Association and later certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services through Humane Educators of Texas in Hutto, TX.

Austin Reptile Service provides...

...a hands-on experience with live native snakes and exotic large snakes & lizards.  Participants learn how to use snake tongs and safety containment techniques.

We provide workbooks during class and a PowerPoint presentation.
Workbooks on a flash drive are provided to participants after class.

Participants will receive 4 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credits.
